Bonjour Mabuhay!
When I had my first interview at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, I was so excited and so happy. Second and third interview came, I still feel the same excitement as what I felt the first time.
Last thursday and yesterday was our New Employees Orientation Program, and practicumers like me also has to undergo this orientation/training program. The first day was a lot of fun, I learned a lot of things about the managing company, the owning company and the hotel itself. Yesterday, I expected that it will be quite like the same as the first day but it was more tiring. From resort and recreations department, i got moved to the lobby department. I will be assigned as a lobby greeter. I saw the actual operations because I was asked to watch the other employees do the Sofitel Luxury Hotel’s Candle ritual which I will be also doing in the future. I saw how hard it is to smile, greet, stand still, accompany the guests — ALL DAY. I was there to watch for almost an hour but it seems like a whole day to me. I was like, “So this is what work actually is.” I changed my perception and looked on the brighter side of it. This will be a great opportunity for me because I am now a part of a luxury hotel and that alone is something to be proud of already.
God will not put me here without a purpose, and no matter how hard this may be, I will do this for God, for the foundation of my career and for my family.
I will be starting on November 8, so if you guys happen to drop by/eat/check in/whatever, just let me know days ahead before the time of your visit. Don’t be surprised to see me in the hotel lobby or in the recreational areas ayt? Haha! And also, don’t forget to bring your camera because I want photos of me in work. We are not allowed to bring anything in our work areas but our name plates. Gadgets are also surrendered to the security office once we get inside the hotel so I won’t be able to text the whole day of my duty. How sad, right? but its mandatory and I would never want to sneak my phone and break the rules and break my career. Haha :p So there, please include me in your prayers because easy as it might seem to you, it will be super tough for me because we have standards to follow which aren’t easy to comply with and a schedule which can include Sundays :( I could not explain any more further how hard it will be, but I’m ready to face the challenges. The key to be successful in this job is to ONLY DO WHAT’S NEED TO BE DONE. Nothing more and nothing less.
Above all of these bitter trials, I will still bless the Lord at all times and lift His holy name <3
Godbless everyone!
Au revoir :)
